Eros Hoagland for The New York TimesThis spring, I went down to San Diego to explore the blossoming brew scene there for the New York Times, and the resulting piece came out this weekend. In between dips in the chilly Pacific, I took a certain dark pleasure in ducking out of the sunshine into dark office park breweries and drinking broody barrel aged strong ales.This post makes me sad, as I have been most of this week, because it reminds me of my friend Justin Ferrari, who was killed this last week. Justin was a dedicated seeker, of good beer among other things, and I wish I could share many more glasses with him. A toast to you Justin.
